All manufacturers’ names and numbers used for reference purposes only.

In 1978, James Dyson became frustrated with his vacuum cleaner’s diminishing performance. Taking it apart, he discovered that its bag was clogging with dust, causing suction to drop. He’d recently built an industrial cyclone tower for his factory that separated paint particles from the air using centrifugal force. But could the same principle work in a vacuum cleaner? He set to work. Five years and 5,127 prototypes later, he had invented the world’s first bagless vacuum cleaner.

Now with extra-long fly-leads for ease of fitting.

Technical Notes

Supplied in a neat carton with internal cradle for protection during transit

Some alternative products may state that the motor TOC is "self-resetting". This is potentially dangerous, as a self-resetting TOC means that it can restart automatically after the motor has cooled down. It is possible that the user might be cleaning the machine whilst it is cooling down, with dangerous consequences if it is still connected to the mains. The TOC used in our motor has a manual reset, which means that the motor can only be restarted by operating the on-off switch.

Our TOC is an internal device and as such has a very early reaction to over-heating. Some alternative products are fitted with an external TOC, which will work only after sufficient heat has been transferred to the outer casing of the motor. The operating range of our TOC is 95degrees C., +/- 5 Degrees.
